BBL Photofacial FAQ
How does a BBL Photofacial treatment improve skin health?
Skin rejuvenation occurs as pulses of light energy delivered from the BBL gently heat the upper layers of skin. Specific light filters target selected areas such as sun spots or freckles (brown pigmentation) or redness from broken capillary vessels and rosacea. The targeted areas absorb the heat fading pigmentation and minimizing redness. Skin cells respond by stimulating collagen, improving the appearance and health of damaged skin.
What happens during a BBL Photofacial treatment?
Prior to the treatment, your provider will assess your skin for recent sun exposure. We recommend avoiding sun exposure 7 days prior to a BBL treatment. Protective eye shields will be applied. As the treatment begins you will feel warmth or a “rubber band snap” sensation to the area the BBL is delivering light energy. The treatment will last 20 – 30 minutes, depending on the area.
Is there any downtime?
There is no downtime, you should be able to resume your normal activities after the treatment. Following your treatment, you may notice some redness, like a mild sunburn. This will resolve in a few hours. Pigmented lesions will darken or “coffee-grinde” and slough off in 7-10 days. It is important to use a mineral based sunscreen daily before and after your treatment.
Can you treat more than just the face?
Broadband Light (BBL) treatments are effective at treating all areas of the body. The most common areas are face, neck, décolleté, back of hands, and forearms.
How often should I have a BBL treatment?
If you have never had a BBL treatment, we recommend 3 treatments spaced one month apart for optimal results. To maintain results, it is recommended to repeat a BBL treatment every 6 months. If you want the most anti-aging BBL can provider, studies have shown that treating your skin with the Sciton BBL 3-4 times a year actually affects gene expression, making your cells act younger, which significantly delays skin aging!
Is this treatment good for men and women?
