PRF for Hairloss
Platelet-Rich Fibrin, also known as PRF is an FDA-approved comprehensive therapy used for hair rejuvenation. In PRF, the patient’s own blood is drawn, spun down in a centrifuge and the plasma isolated to use during the PRF injection treatment.
The plasma or “liquid gold” is rich in growth factors that promote hair regeneration. PRF hair loss treatments are recommended for patients with non-scarring hair loss condition such as androgenic alopecia (female/male pattern hairloss), alopecia areata, telogen effluvium, etc.

PRF for Hairloss FAQ
What does PRF for hairloss treatments do?
PRF for hairloss helps prevent further loss and stimulates hair regrowth. This can be used to treat non-scarring hair loss condition such as androgenic alopecia (female/male pattern hairloss), alopecia areata, telogen effluvium, etc.
What is the difference between PRP and PRF?
PRF is basically the PRP 2.0. The way the blood is processed in PRF vs PRP, more healing factors are generated, making the treatment more effective. The “liquid gold” is richer. PRF is also completely natural whereas PRP includes some additives or anti-coagulants. The absence of these extra additives in the PRF allows the PRF to steadily release the growth factors into the skin over a longer period of time, enhancing the results compared to regular PRP.
Is PRF Safe?
Using PRf (platelet-rich fibrin) as a treatment for tear troughs is natural. PRF is made from your blood, and there is little risk of allergic reactions. In addition, the concentrated blood plasma or platelets contain healing growth factors and is the part of blood the starts the coagulation process.
What happens during treatment?
During treatment, we will first start by numbing the treatment area with a topical anesthetic. This procedure involves multiple injections of PRF, so depending on the patient, the numbing time may be up to 1 hour to help optimize the patient’s comfort level during treatment. Towards the end of the numbing, the patient’s own blood is drawn, spun down in a centrifuge and the plasma isolated. The plasma is then injected under the skin throughout the treatment area.
When do you see results?
You will start to see results within 1 to 2 months. Most patients report full results are seen around 6 month. On-going treatments are recommended to maintain your results.
How many treatments do I need and how long does it last?
To start, we recommend 3-4 treatments spaced one month apart. After the initial treatments, patients can typically switch to maintenance treatments. We recommend 1 treatment every 3-6 months for maintenance.
Is this treatment good for men and women?
Yes! This treatment benefits both men and women.
